Overview

Hoi An casts a spell on everyone who visits. This ancient trading port has preserved its 15th-century architecture so perfectly that wandering its lantern-lit streets feels like time travel. Japanese merchant houses stand next to Chinese temples, French colonial shopfronts, and Vietnamese tube houses.

Beyond the UNESCO-listed Ancient Town, Hoi An offers some of Vietnam's best beaches just a short bike ride away, a legendary food scene, and tailors who can create custom clothing overnight. It's touristy, yes, but earns every bit of its popularity.
