Overview

Da Nang has transformed from a quiet coastal city into Vietnam's most liveable urban center. Modern high-rises line pristine beaches, the Dragon Bridge breathes actual fire on weekends, and the famous Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills has become an Instagram sensation.

For travelers, Da Nang works as both a destination and a base. The city itself offers excellent beaches, surprisingly good nightlife, and easy day trips to Hoi An, Hue, and the dramatic Hai Van Pass. It feels like Vietnam's future while still keeping its coastal soul.

4Drive or ride the Hai Van Pass, the spectacular mountain road between Da Nang and Hue

6Sample Mi Quang noodles and banh trang cuon at the city's legendary street food spots

Getting There & Around

By Air: Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is remarkably central, just 3km from the beach hotels. Grab to My Khe Beach costs around 50,000-80,000 VND and takes 10-15 minutes. Multiple daily flights connect to Hanoi and HCMC.

By Train: Da Nang Railway Station links to Hanoi (14-17 hours), HCMC (15-20 hours), and Hue (2.5 hours on the scenic route over Hai Van Pass - though the train goes through a tunnel now).

Getting Around: Grab is reliable and cheap here. Rent a motorbike (100,000-150,000 VND/day) to explore beaches and the Hai Van Pass. The beach road is flat and easy to cycle.
